FOR THE YEAR 2015-16

 

1. Seminar on Conservation of Water Bodies in Kamrup (M) & Adjacent Areas

A 2 days Seminar on Conservation of water bodies in Kamrup (M) and its adjacent areas was organized under Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MOEFCC), GoI at SimantaSankarDev Kristi Kendra, Guwahati with a participants of 30 nos attending the seminar. Special Resource persons were invited to deliver talk on specific topics.

Objectives were:

  • Sensitization about undertaking any activities including the filling up of water bodies which may cause damage and reduce the size of water bodies.
  • Sensitization about construction of any structure in the water bodies.
  • Sensitization about Dumping or throwing solid wastes or garbage in water bodies
  • Sensitization about extend or reinforce of any building standing upon the water bodies.
  • Sensitization about carrying out any kind of activity except fish curing, aqua culture, conservation measures.

The 2 day program consisted of

  • Technical Session (Group action & Presentation)
  • Subject Topic Deliberation & presentation
  • Interactive Session with Participants, Problems/Issues raised, Solution, Suggestion & Recommendation
  • Group Work & Presentation
  • Valedictory Session with Suggestions.
2. Community Action for Health under NHM, ASSAM

Community Action for Health is a key strategy of the National Health Mission (NHM), which places people at the centre of the process to ensure their health needs and rights are being fulfilled. It allows them to monitor the progress of the NHM interventions regularly in their areas resulting in active community participation and contribution towards strengthening health services.

The process involves

  • Formation and strengthening of Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs) at the village level, and Planning and Monitoring Committees (PMC) at the PHC, block, district and state levels
  • Creating community awareness on NHM entitlements, roles and responsibilities of the service providers
  • Training of VHSNC and PMC members
  • Undertaking community level enquiry to monitor health services
  • Dialogue for advocacy with key stakeholders to highlight gaps and find solutions
  • Follow up action and planning to address issues emerging from the community level enquiry.
  • Identification of Mothers Club and activation & reactivation of the same.

The project was implemented from 10 Feb, 2016 in 13 Districts of Assam namely :
Zone 6 - Kamrup(M) & (R), Morigaon, Nagaon,
Zone 4 - Golaghat, Jorhat, KarbiAnglong, Sonitpur,
Zone 3 - Goalpara, Baksa, Nalbari, Udalguri, Darang.

Zone 3 – 22 Blocks
Zone 4 – 27 Blocks
Zone 6 – 27 Blocks

40 VHSNC’s were selected under Each Block in which the above mention activities were carried out.

Special focus was given on key issues like :

  • Identification of Pregnant Women
  • Identification of Eligible Couple
  • Identification of High Risk Pregnancy
  • Identification of Home Delivery/ Institutional Delivery.
  • Identification of Left out/Dropout
3. SFURTI Cluster under MSME

7 villages are selected in Majuli as a cluster namely Garmur, Chitadarchuk, Phutuki, Khonachuk, Kerelagaon, Chamuguri. Mohkina.250 artisans are covered under the project & 3 products were selected namely Handloom Items, Cane & Bamboo items, Ethnic Mask.

Different Activities undertaken:

  1. 7 Nos. Awareness Campaign in all the 7 Cluster Villages. completed
  2. Formation of self-help group. 5 nos. completed.
  3. Formation of SPV also Regd. In S.R. Act. XXI of 1860 with the Artisans.
  4. 15 days Skill Development Training imparted to all 250 Artisans in Respective trade completed.
  5. 3 days Exposure visit to different Institutions at Guwahati, Soalkuchi, Bornihat with 28 nos. Artisans. completed
  6. “Exhibition” participated at Jorhat by 2 nos. Artisans at Jorhat with the products of Artisans 14 days duration. 
  7. 10 nos. Modern Jacquard Looms & Machineries provided to Artisans & 3 nos. Master Trainers Training was then going on at Khonachuk under Master Craftsman from Soalkuchi.
  8. Awareness Generation Campaign on Artisans Identity Cards, Cashless Transaction & Digital India Prime Minister Programme was Organization Sponsored & Collaboration with O/o DC (H), GOI, M&SEC, JORHAT. 
4. NaiRoshni

NaiRoshni, a leadership Development Program for Minority Women under Ministry of Minority Affairs, GOI.
The objective of the scheme is to empower is to empower minority women by providing knowledge, tools and techniques for interacting with Government systems, bank and other institutions at all levels. The effort would embolden minority women to move out of the confines of their home and community and assume leadership roles and assert their, collectively or individually in accessing service, facilities, Skills and Opportunities besides claiming their due share of development benefits of the Government for improving their lives and living conditions.
NaiRoshniprogramme includes various training modules like

  • Leadership of women
  • Educational programmes
  • Health &Hygiene
  • Swach Bharat
  • Financial Literacy
  • Life Skills
  • Legal Rights of Women
  • Digital Literacy
  • Advocacy for Social and Behavioral change
5. Awareness Programme on Handloom & Handicraft

An awareness program for artisans was organized at RWUAA training Institute, Ketri in support of Export Promotion Council and DC (H), MoTex, GoI.A 50 nos of beneficiaries participated in the program

Key topics addressed were

  • Awareness on diversification of Products
  • Maintaining & Production of standard and specific Goods for Export.
  • Assistance from the Government for the artisans.
  • I cards for the Artisans.           

6. Research Project on Safe Drinking Water

A study on community based low cost technology solution for providing clean & safe drinking water to arsenic exposed population of Majuli (the biggest inhabited river island) &Kamrup (metro) district in support of National Institute for Advance Studies (NIAS), Banglore, Ministry of Science & Technology.

7. Implementation & Monitoring of school Eco – Clubs under National Green Corps
The Organisation has been selected as District Nodal Agency for Implementation & Monitoring of school Eco-Clubs under National Green Corps program under Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MOEFCC)

National Green Corps is a major initiative of MOEFCC for creating environmental awareness which aims at building cadres of young children working towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

It is operated through Eco-clubs set up in schools registered as members of NGC, this programme exposes school children to in-depth field experiences, and provides opportunities to convert their ideas into creative action.

The programme seeks to redirect the consciousness of students towards environment friendly attitudes and actions and goes beyond schools, promoting school-society interactions to sensitize the society. Also in order to strengthen monitoring mechanism of NGC programme, MoEFCC is in process to establish Management.
8. USTTAD-Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts Crafts for Development

Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development (USTAAD) is a initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs. The project has been started in the Mukalmuwa Block, Nalbari District. Each year 300 nos of artisans will be trained on Embroidery along with computer and behavioral skills.
